GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Dani Drews has announced Rob Currin as the first head coach of the Women's Flag Football program at Geneseo. Earlier this fall
, SUNY Geneseo announced the addition of Flag Football beginning in Spring 2025, and Currin has been tapped to lead the start of the new program.
"We are thrilled to announce Rob Currin as the head coach of our Flag Football program," said Drews. "Rob brings a skill set and expertise in women's flag football that is remarkable. We are so fortunate to have him lead the Knights. I am so grateful to Rob for taking this leap with us and for the support of (SUNY Geneseo) President Denise Battles and Vice President Mike Taberski to start the program this spring, providing dozens of new collegiate playing opportunities for women."

Currin enters Geneseo with significant Flag Football experience under his belt including working with the U.S. National Teams as a Talent ID Field Core Coach. He has also coached youth flag football from 2016-18, leading a team to participate in the NFL Flag Football National Championships held at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Orlando. He has been a USA Football Master Trainer since 2014, and served as the Buffalo Bills Middle School Flag Football Program Coordinator from 2020-22. Most recently, he led the inaugural season of flag football at LeRoy (NY) High School.
The Knights will pilot the program with current and transfer students this spring and anticipates an eventual roster size of 25-30 players. The addition of women's flag increases the college's offerings to 22 intercollegiate sports.
