Cole Kattan scored a team-high 16 points but the Knights fell to tournament host Widener, 83-55, in the opening round of the Widener Tip-Off for Autism Awareness on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Widener jumped out to an early lead but Kattan hit back-to-back buckets to spur a 7-0 run that brought the Knights back to within three points, 15-12, with 11:59 to go in the first half.
- The Pride extended its lead to double-digits once again midway through the first half, but Raymond Grabowski capped another 7-0 Geneseo run with a three-pointer at the 8:22 mark to make it 25-22.
- Widener finished the first half on a 20-7 run to take a 45-29 lead into the halftime break.
- In the second half, the Knights generated just nine made field goals, shooting 31.0% (9-for-29) from the field in the period as Widener pulled away.
QUICK FACTS
- Kattan finished with a team-high 16 poitns on 7-for-17 shooting while Sebastian Pacheco added 10 points on 3-for-3 shooting and Kip Dallaris chipped in eight points.
- Harrison Dignan recorded a team-high six assists while Kattan and Michael Gentile each finished with a squad-best five rebounds.
- Geneseo was outrebounded by Widener, 49-31, but held the Pride to just four second-chance points.
