Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team couldn't make it seven straight wins to begin State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Tuesday night as they fell at Oswego, 88-63.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Four minutes into the game, a three from graduate guard Terrance Nichols put Geneseo in the lead at 7-6. However, the Lakers bounced back quickly and went on a 9-0 run to take control of the first half.
- After trailing by as many as 13 early in the first half, the Knights cut the lead back down to single-digits following another three from Nichols at 25-17. Oswego wasn't going to let Geneseo keep the score close going into halftime though and ended up with a 38-22 advantage at the break.
- Geneseo hung around early in the second half, as a three from sophomore guard Ethan St. Lucia cut the deficit to eight points with 13 minutes left to play. The Lakers had the answer once again for the Knights run and went on to secure a double-digit victory and remain undefeated in SUNYAC play.
QUICK FACTS
- Senior forward Michael Gannon posted a double-double for the Knights, tallying 19 points and 11 boards. Nichols also finished with double-digits, tallying 17 points on 7-10 shooting from the field.
- Heading into the contest, both teams were unbeaten in conference games, with Geneseo winning seven of its last eight games and Oswego riding a 10-game win streak.
- In conference games, Gannon leads the SUNYAC in points per game with 19.7.
