CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Matt Sayre was named Most Valuable Performer as the Knights earned their third-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship on Saturday at Cortland.
Sayre was named Athlete of the Meet after finishing first in the 10,000 on Friday night and winning the 5,000 on Saturday. Sophomore Ryan Mitchell earned a first-place finish in the steeplechase, while Kieran Sheridan placed first in the 400. Sheridan also earned a first-place finish in the 4x400 teaming with Joey Saxton, Shane Ferris and Alec Andrews. Joshua Feldberg finished first in the triple jump while Lance Jensen topped the finishers in the 400 hurdles.
Geneseo earned its third-straight conference crown after winning the 2018 and 2019 SUNYAC Championships. The Knights have won a combined seven-straight indoor and outdor men's track & field conference titles.
Those who qualified will compete at the AARTFC Meet on May 19 and May 20 with the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 27-29 in Greensboro, N.C.
