PITTSFORD, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Matt Sayre and sophomore Ezra Ruggles each set a facility record as the Knights competed at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic on Friday in Pittsford.
Sayre opened the day of competition with a facility record, first-place finish in the 10,000. Sayre crossed the line in 30:01.42, the eighth-fastest time in NCAA Division III so far this season. Ruggles followed up with a facility record in the steeplechase, crossing the finish in 9:19.75 for the fifth-fastest time in NCAA Division III so far this season.
First-year Lance Jensen earned a win in the 400 with a finishing time of 50.67 while sophomore Jason Rappazzo took down the 200 with a time of 21.91. Junior Riley Grossman nabbed a first-place finish in the 5000 (15:14.64), while Cameron Kane, Bryan Ivey, John Goldszer and Kieran Sheridan teamed for a first-place finishin the 4x400.
Geneseo will return to action on May 1 at home in the Geneseo May Meet before competing in SUNYAC Championships, beginning on Friday, May 7.
