Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA – The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team couldn't make it out of a tough Carnegie Mellon Invitational with a win as they fell on the final day to the Tartans and Mary Washington. The Knights will now look ahead to the SUNYAC semifinals, where they will face the winner of Brockport and Buffalo St.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights improved on the offensive end from Friday's match, hitting .104 as a team against Carnegie Mellon and .132 against Mary Washington. However, their efforts weren't strong enough to get in the win column as the Tartans won 3-0 and the Eagles won 3-1.
- Against Mary Washington, Geneseo came out strong and never trailed after 1-0 in the first set. An eight-point run with junior libero Emily Haber serving propelled the Knights to an opening-set 25-17 victory.
- The Eagles battled back in the second frame though and took a tight 25-20 win. Mary Washington went on to win the final two sets 25-18 and 25-11.
- Carnegie Mellon defeated the Knights by scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-19.
QUICK FACTS
- Junior outside hitter Isabella Imbo tallied 21 kills on the day, while first-year middle blocker Madison Gamberg tallied 13.
- Senior setter Morgan Michalski is just three assists shy of the 1,000 career mark after tallying 60 assists on the day.
- Junior libero Emily Haber tallied 46 digs over the two matches to lead the defensive effort.

The Knights will head to Cortland for the SUNYAC semifinals on Nov. 5, where they will face the winner of Brockport and Buffalo St.
