GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team hosted Sage for their last regular season match up on Saturday afternoon, and clinched a 3-1 victory in four-sets. The Knights enter the playoffs as the No. 4 seed with an overall record of 14-11 and 7-4 in Empire 8 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo came out swinging in the opening set, setting the tempo early. Sage showed some fight, but the Knights maintained control for the rest of the frame and secured a 25-20 victory. Sophie Hunter dominated on the attack, racking up six kills.
- Geneseo stayed hot to start the second set, keeping their distance from Sage. Even though the Gators made it a nail-biter, the Knights held firm to close out a 25-21 win.
- The third set was a gritty contest, with Sage staying right on Geneseo's heels throughout. With the score at 24-all, the Gators strung together back-to-back points to take a 26-24 win over the Knights.
- The teams headed into a fourth set, with Geneseo building an early six-point lead. The Knights' offense remained strong to finish with a 25-13 victory. McKenna Callari contributed four service aces in the win.
QUICK FACTS:
- Hunter posted a team-high .457 hitting percentage to go with 19 kills, while Kate Barba chipped in 16 kills.
- Callari paced the Knights with 17 digs.
- Carolyn Mack totaled 43 assists in the match.

Geneseo will host Houghton on Saturday, Nov. 8 in the quarterfinal match up at 1 p.m.
