Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team concluded its regular season State Unviersity of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play with a bang as they defeated Oneonta in three sets for their sixth-straight win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights came out hot in the first set, jumping ahead 7-2, but the Red Dragons quickly bounced back and ended up taking a 12-10 lead.
- Geneseo turned to its junior middle blockers, Madison Gamberg and Jackie Borland, who tallied four of the next five kills for the Knights and they were able to regain control of the set and ultimately win it 25-20.
- The Knights used another big mid-set rally in the second frame to help lead them to a 25-15 victory, and then dominated the third and final set with a 25-12 win.
QUICK FACTS
- Junior outside hitter Isabella Imbo and sophomore outside hitter Madison Popielski both tallied 10 kills to lead the Geneseo attack.
- Gamberg and Borland combined for 17 kills and an impressive .556 hitting percentage out of the middle.
- Senior setter Morgan Michalski tallied 28 assists, while junior libero Emily Haber and sophomore defensive specialist Cecilia Dignan combined for 25 digs.
- The Knights earned a first-round bye in the SUNYAC tournament with an 8-1 record and will travel to Cortland for the semifinals, where they will face the winner of Brockport and Buffalo St on Nov. 5.

Geneseo will head to the Carnegie Mellon Invitational next weekend on Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30.
