BROCKPORT, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior Brendan Murphy finished first in the mile to pace the Knights at the Brockport Invitational over the weekend. 

Murphy finished first in the mile with a time of 4:24.57. First-year Ezra Ruggles set a meet record, finishing first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:33.83. He led four Knights to shatter the old meet record as senior Justin Hoelzl (8:33.86), sophomore Riley Grossman (8:35.84) and junior Matthew Sayre (8:37.39) swept the top four finishes.

The Geneseo 4x400 relay team composed of first-year John Goldszer, first-year Stephen Hoare, sophomore Nico Bellavia and senior Sam Napoli placed first with a time of 3:29.80 as well.

The Knights finished second out of 16 teams, falling to host Brockport by just five points. Geneseo will compete again on Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass.
