Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore forward Michael Gannon finished with a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Knights fell on the road to SUNYAC rival Cortland, 64-54, Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior forward Justin Leonard tallied six points in the opening minutes of the game, including a jumper at the 12:44 mark, giving the Knights a 13-8 advantage.
- Senior forward Sean Crowley connected on his second jumper of the game with 3:11 remaining in the first half, giving Geneseo a 24-20 edge. The Red Dragons closed out the half on a 10-2 scoring run, leading at the break, 30-26.
- Cortland opened up the second half with an 8-0 scoring run. Gannon put the Knights on the board at the 13:53 mark with a three-pointer, cutting Geneseo's deficit to 38-29.
- The Knights claimed a 48-45 lead with 5:52 remaining, using a 19-3 scoring run that lasted 6:27. Gannon exploded for 11-straight points during the run, connecting on field goals in four-consecutive offensive possessions, including three buckets from beyond the arc.
- The Red Dragons answered with a 12-0 scoring run to reclaim a 60-52 advantage and did not relinquish their lead, winning the contest, 64-54.
