ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's track & field team combined for nine top-three finishes as the Knights finished second out of 12 institutions at the Nazareth College Cup on Saturday.
Sophomore Joey Saxton opened the meet with a third place finish in the 400, crossing in 50.96. First-year Stephen Hoare finished fifth in the 500m with a time of 1:09.34 while senior Kevin Seitz placed sixth in the 3000m. Senior Justin Hoelzl added a third-place finish in the mile, timing out at 4:21.24 while junior Matthew Sayre finished second in the 5000m with a time of 14:57.80. The Knights turned in top-five finishes in five of the six field events, including second place finishes from senior Zach Curran, sophomore Josh Feldberg and first-year Greg Cole-Allen in the pole vault, triple jump and shot put, respectively.
Geneseo finished second with 108 points, just two shy of Williams. Ithaca, St. John Fisher and Rochester rounded out the top five while SUNYAC rival Cortland placed sixth.
The Knights will compete again on Feb. 1 when they travel to Ithaca to compete in the Bomber Invitational.
