BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A national championship in the men's distance medley relay highlighted SUNY Geneseo's showing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at the Birmingham (Ala.) Crossplex.
Juniors Luke Holtzman, Zachery Hannahoe, Gillan Faulkner and senior Isaac Garcia-Cassani bested the DMR field with a time of 9:56.63, improving upon the same quartet's second-place finish a season ago. Now a three-time national champion after winning the indoor mile and the outdoor 1,500 in 2017, Garcia-Cassani earned his 12th-career All-America honor with a runner-up finish in the 3,000 (8:18.19) on Saturday.
On the women's side, junior Erin MacDougall finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.84 clocking in Saturday's final after posting an 8.83 in Friday's prelims. She then led off the Knights' sixth-place 4x400 relay (3:53.12), teaming with senior Lauren Bamford, junior Shayna Held and senior Camille Wutz.
Wutz also placed fourth in the long jump (5.67m/18' 7.25") on Friday to land her second All-America citation in the event to go along with a sixth-place effort in 2016.
Held claimed an All-American seventh-place finish in the pentathlon on Friday, totaling 3,435 points on the day. It was her second All-American finish after placing fifth in the outdoor heptathlon last spring.
The Geneseo men finished in a tie for ninth place in the team standings while the women ended in a tie for 14th.
