Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore outside hitter Grace Cergol totaled a match-high 14 kills to go along with 11 digs to lead the Knights to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-16) victory over Pitt-Bradford in their home-opener, Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first set, the Knights broke open a two-point game, 12-10, by scoring 13 of the final 14 points en route to the opening win. Sophomore outside hitter Abby May notched two kills during a 5-0 run to close the set.
- Geneseo opened a 12-2 second-set lead that included three kills by May, before building a 17-5 edge on its way to the second-set victory.
- The Panthers grabbed an early 5-4 lead in the third, but Geneseo broke a 7-7 tie with a 7-1 run to build a 14-8 lead. Pitt-Bradford battled back within two, 14-12, but the Knights rode a 7-1 run to an eight-point lead that proved insurmountable.
