GRINNELL, Iowa – SUNY Geneseo captured seven All-America certificates at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell Iowa. The men's distance medley team of senior Ryan Moynihan, first-year James Laguerre II, first-year Lorenzo Mazzuca and sophomore Isaac Garcia-Cassani took third as Garcia-Cassani also recorded a third-place finish in the mile.
The men's team finished the weekend in 16th place with 12 points as Wisconsin-Eau Claire totaled 53 points to edge Wisconsin-Whitewater (49) for the title. Baldwin Wallace won it all on the women's side with 42.2 points while the Knights had 11 points for 17th overall.
Junior Alexa Wandy landed All-America honors with a runner-up finish in the women's triple jump while sophomore Camille Wutz finished sixth in the long jump.
Moynihan, Laguerre, Mazzuca and Garcia-Cassani completed the distance medley relay in a time of 10:02.95 to match the best finish in the event at the NCAA Championships and record the sixth-fastest time in school history. It is only the third time the Knights have earned All-America honors in the distance medley relay and first time since 2013, which saw Alex Brimstein, Chris Carter, Jess Cleary-Krell and Anthony George also run to a third-place finish.
Garcia-Cassani completed the mile run in a time of 4:11.71 to take third overall for the second-consecutive season.
Wandy was runner-up in the triple jump with a school-record mark of 12.17m (39' 11.25"). Wandy is the first indoor triple jump All-American since Mary Kosloski in 2006.
Wutz earned a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.58m (18' 3.75"), becoming the program's first All-American in the event.
In the women's distance medley relay, senior Winny Chen, senior Kylie Ryan, first-year Olivia Ryan and junior Sara Rosenzweig finished 12th (12:06.25) while senior Jacqueline Huben came in 16th (18:00.31) in the 5,000-meter run.
Geneseo is set to begin its outdoor season on Saturday, April 2, at the Yellowjacket Invitational, hosted by Rochester.
