ITHACA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Ryan Moynihan broke the school record in the 1,000-meter run to lead the Knights at Tuft's Cupid Challenge while senior Brendan Wortner ran to third place in the 5,000-meter run at Ithaca's Bomber Invitational, Saturday.
Moynihan ran to a new program record in the 1,000-meter run after completing the event in a time of 2:30.87 to take fourth place.
Geneseo took five of the top eight spots in the 5,000-meter run. Wortner led the way with a third-place finish (15:57.15), followed by senior Alex Beals in fourth (15:57.98), sophomore Kyle Chesterman in fifth (15:59.18) and senior Sean Fischer in sixth (16:07.30) as first-year Sean Welch captured eighth (16:13.78).
Senior Aidan Fullerton recorded 4,766 points in the heptathlon to finish fourth, break his own school record and move into fifth place in Division III.
In the mile run, sophomore Travis Briggs came in fourth with a time of 4:21.71. First-year Zachary Hannahoe took eighth in the 400-meter dash (52.22) followed by junior Connor Christian in ninth (52.23).
Sophomore Elineury Collado finished in eighth place (2:00.30) in the 800-meter run as junior Chris Odin was right behind him in ninth (2:00.52).
First-year John Ripa ran the 3,000-meter run in a time of 8:58.72 to come in sixth.
In addition to Moynihan's performance at Tufts, sophomore Isaac Garcia-Cassani took the crown in the mile run, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:14.68 to move up to 14th in Division III, and junior Alfredo Mazzuca finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run (15:01.91).
