BOSTON, Mass. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Isaac Garcia-Cassani ran the second-fastest mile in school history while the Knights record a number of personal-best times against Division I competitors at the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University, Saturday.
Garcia-Cassani completed the mile in a time of 4:09.89 to move into second place all-time at Geneseo and 11th in Division III. Sophomore Travis Briggs finished the event in a personal-best time of 4:17.03.
Junior Connor Christian, first-year James Laguerre II, sophmore Dylan Switzer and senior Ben Wach broke the school record in the 4x400-meter relay by over two seconds with a time of 3:19.87.
Senior Ryan Moynihan, Laguerre, first-year Lorenzo Mazzuca and Garcia-Cassani ran the distance medley relay in 10:01.34, the fifth-best time in program history.
Laguerre also ran a personal record in the 400-meter dash (49.64) while Wach finished in 50.52. The times now stand at second and fifth place, respectively, all-time at Geneseo.
Junior Austin Donroe ran the 60-meter dash in 7.29 and the 200-meter dash in 22.65 while first-year Joseph Strassfield finished those events in 7.30 and 22.91, respectively, both of which were personal bests.
In the 800-meter run, first-year Gillan Faulkner crossed the finish line in 1:56.48 while L. Mazzuca ran the event in 1:56.58, good for ninth and 10th-best in school history.
The Knights return to action at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by Brockport on Saturday, February 20th.
