BROCKPORT, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year Isaac Garcia-Cassani captured the crown in the 1,500-meter run to lead the Knights at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Championships this weekend, hosted by Brockport. Geneseo finished the weekend with 74 points to take fourth place.
Brockport won the title with 204.5 points while Oneonta (157.5), Cortland (146.5) and Buffalo State (72) rounded out the top five.
DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS
1,500-meter run
Garcia-Cassani bested the field with a time of 3:52.40 and earned first-team all-conference honors for his first-place finish.
Steeplechase
Sophomore Alex Kramer came in fifth with a time of 9:44.92.
4x100-meter relay
Senior Phil Longo, sophomore Austin Donroe, junior Michael Segelin and senior David Layman finished the event in 42.87 to take fifth.
800-meter run
Junior Nate Lo Parco finished third (1:55.81) followed by senior Ben Schwartz in fourth (1:55.89).
High jump
Longo took third place with a jump of 1.93m while senior Luke Taverne jumped 1.88m to take fourth.
5,000-meter run
Senior Matthew Herbert finished the event in fifth (15:32.61) while senior Matthew Byrnes came in seventh (15:41.32).
100-meter dash
Segelin ran the 100-meter dash in 11.12 to take fourth place.
Decathlon
After two days of events, junior Aidan Fullerton finished in eighth with 5,011 points.
DAY 1 HIGHLIGHTS
10,000-meter run
Senior Sean Fischer finished the event in fourth (31:51.90) followed by sophomore Alfredo Mazzuca in fifth (32:20.65).
Long jump
Longo recorded a sixth-place finish (6.62m).
