ITHACA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Austin Donroe recorded a new personal record in the 100-meter dash to lead the Knights at the Bid Red Invitational hosted by Cornell University, Sunday. The team performed well against a field primarily made up of Division I athletes.
Donroe completed the 100-meter dash in 11.06 to capture the eight spot and had a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.97).
Senior Cody Orton came in 11th in the 800-meter run (1:57.65) while sophomores Travis Briggs and Alfredo Mazzuca took 10th (4:08.14) and 11th (4:08.64), respectively, in the 1,500-meter run.
On Saturday, Geneseo's field athletes competed at St. John Fisher as senior Luke Taverne took the crown in the high jump with a 2-meter jump. Taverne's winning jump moved him into first place in the the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).
The Knights will compete in the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships this coming weekend, hosted by Brockport. Events are scheduled to begin Friday at 4 p.m. and continue Saturday at 10 a.m.
