CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Alex Kramer finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Knights at the Cortland Classic this weekend.
Kramer came in second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:45.67, moving him into fifth place in the SUNYAC. First-year Isaac Garcia-Cassani took third place in the 800-meter run (1:54.89) while senior Ryan Moynihan was eighth (1:57.82).
"Despite heavy winds, we walked away from Cortland with 13 additions to the programs' all-time top-ten lists and a large number of personal records," said head coach Chris Popovici. "The coaching staff is really proud of this group as a whole. The team has really gelled and we are posed to have a great end of the year."
Senior Ben Schwartz had a seventh-place finish in the 1,500-meter run (4:06.76) and in the 5,000-meter run, senior Cody Orton finished fifth (15:54.41) and sophomore Bayley Zubler took seventh (16:00.11).
Senior Chaz Abad came in seventh in the 10,000-meter run (33:20.31) as first-year Sam Heraghty followed in eight spot (33:37.41). Both times were personal-bests.
Sophomore Connor Christian, sophomore Austin Donroe, junior Evan Feeley and Schwartz ran the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:24.11 to come in seventh.
For the field events, senior Phil Longo captured seventh-place in the high jump (1.83m) while first-year Peter Clark-Deutsch came in ninth in the triple jump (13.35m). Senior Devon Anderson took ninth in the discus throw (40.58m).
The Knights return to action this Thursday (April 23) at the Penn Relays at Philadelphia. Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. and continue on Friday at the same time.
