BROCKPORT, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Travis Briggs came in first in the 3,000-meter run to lead the Knights at the Golden Eagle Invite hosted by Brockport, Saturday.
Briggs' first-place finish in a time of 8:49.64 was a season-best and qualified him for the State University of New York Ahletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships.
Junior Nate Lo Parco bested the field in the 800-meter run (1:57.59) as sophomore Chris Odin took third (1:59.74) and sophomore Joe Chapman was 11th (2:05.51).
Junior Michael Segelin had a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (50.80) while junior Aidan Fullerton came in fourth in the high jump (1.88m) and seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.10).
Sophomore Alex Kramer finished second in the 5,000-meter run (15:49.59) as junior Mike Custance came in third (15:50.99), junior Sean Fischer took fourth (15:52.45), junior Alex Beals was fifth (15:52.76), senior Matthew Byrnes (15:53.86) placed sixth and senior Chaz Abad was seventh (15:55.46).
In the mile, first-year Cody Orton took third place (4:26.90) while sophomore Adam Murphy came in fifth (4:27.49) and junior Brendan Wortner (4:30.83) and Chapman (4:31.51) took eighth and ninth, respectively.
Lo Parco, Odin and Murphy joined sophomore Brian Windisch to take second in the 4x400-meter relay (3:35.80).
Senior Phil Longo recorded a season-best and came in sixth in the long jump (6.76m).
Geneseo will compete in the SUNYAC Tournament next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28, at Brockport.
