ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Michael Segelin ran to two first-place finishes while first-year Ethan Bellante also won an event to lead the Knights to second out of eight teams at RIT's Early Season Invite, Thursday.
Geneseo finished the meet with 135.8 points as RIT took the crown with 169 points and Nazareth (78), Rochester (69) and Roberts Wesleyan (68.8) rounded out the top-five teams.
Segelin bested the field in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7:03 while first-year Joseph Strassfield and junior Austin Donroe both crossed the finish line in third (7.24). Segelin also ran to first place in the 200-meter dash in a meet-record time of 22.84 and Donroe finished the event in fifth (23.37).
Bellante recorded a first-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.46. Junior Elineury Collado was right behind Bellante in second (2:01.64) while first-year Bailey Plummer was fifth (2:04.34).
The Knights' 4x400-meter relay team of junior Connor Christian, first-year James Laguerre II, junior Brian Windisch and first-year Zachary Hannahoe finished second with a time of 3:31.22.
Hannahoe captured fourth in the 500-meter dash (1:08.82) followed by senior Ben Wach in fifth (1:09.09), Christian in seventh (1:09.75) and sophomore Dylan Switzer in eighth (1:09.90).
In the 4x200-meter relay, Donroe, Christian, Wach and first-year Weber Lord placed third with a time of 1:32.86.
Junior Bayley Zubler came in third (9:15.28) in the 3,000-meter run and in the mile run, Windisch finished fourth (4:40.49).
In the field events, sophomore Jasper Humphries finished tied for second in the high jump (1.83m) while brother Brett and first-year Chris Walter took fifth (1.78m). Walter also had a sixth-place finish in the long jump (6.54m).
Lord was the runner-up in shot put (13.67m) while classmate Kevin Palmisano finished fifth in the pole vault (4.20m) followed by sophomore Jesse Friel in fourth (3.90m).
Geneseo returns to action Saturday, January 16, at the RIT Invitational.
