Box Score 2 GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo swept both of its matches on day-two of the Geneseo Volleyball Invitational, Saturday. The Knights defeated Rochester and Hilbert, 3-0, to improve to 13-2 on the season.
Geneseo sophomore right side hitter Maddie Palmer and sophomore middle blocker Courtney Cleary were named to the all-tournament team.

"I thought that we bounced back very well today after a tough loss last night,"said head coach Jen Salmon."I thought our depth especially came into play and we have a lot of confidence heading into our first conference matches of the season next weekend."
Geneseo 3, Rochester 0 (25-20, 25-20, 26-24)
Cleary notched 12 kills on 16 swings for a sparkling .688 hitting percentage to lead the Knights over Rochester.
Junior setter Bethany VanDerMeid compiled a double-double with 27 assists and 12 digs, while junior outside hitter Lizzy Morton chipped in 11 digs to the Knights (12-2) victory.
A close first set saw the Knights pull away with a 6-2 run, capped by a Morton service ace, that turned a 14-14 tie into a 20-16 edge en route to the five-point win.
In the second set, Geneseo used a 9-2 spurt to turn a slim 15-14 edge into a commanding 24-16 lead to go up, 2-0.
Rochester looked to bounce back with a win in the third set, taking a 21-20. However, back-to-back kills and a kill by junior middle blocker Paige Pendleton highlighted a 4-0 run that pushed the Knights to the win and the sweep.
Geneseo 3, Hilbert 0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-10)
Sophomore outside hitter Tricia Baxley totaled a match-high nine kills to lead the Geneseo to the straight-set victory over Hilbert to close out the weekend.
The Knights jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first set thanks to a 9-2 run highlighted by three Baxley kills. Hilbert closed to within three, 18-15, but Geneseo would use a 7-1 finish that included a pair of kills by sophomore right side hitter Emma Lannon to earn the opening victory.
The Knights built a 17-3 lead in the second set, including seven points on the serve of junior middle blocker Paige O'Connor, en route to the 15-point win.
Geneseo was in control of the third set, taking an 18-9 lead before finishing the match with a 6-0 run to close the door on the weekend.
Geneseo will kick off the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) portion of the schedule next Friday and Saturday during the first Pool Play of the year, hosted by Oswego. The Knights will play Plattsburgh at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, before taking on Brockport (10:00 a.m.) and Buffalo State (3:00 p.m.) on Saturday.
