GENESEO, N.Y. –This past weekend, the Knights competed at the self-hosted SUNY Geneseo Open Meet.
On Friday, first-year Joanna Heath kicked the Knights off to a strong start in high jump as part of the heptathlon, tying for the best high jump in the country, achieving a height of 5 feet, 7.75 inches.
Sophomore Ashton Hughes won the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:23.06 in an ECAC Championship-qualifying performance.
Junior Allison Hoh and first-year Brianna Colello took second (16.34) and third (16.8), respectively in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the women's 1,500 meters, first-year Jacquelin Huben finished second (4:56.62).
Junior Keira Wood placed third in the 400-meters, running a time of 59.75.
The successes continued on the men's side.
First-year Connor Christian won the 400-meter run with a time of 51.01. Senior Tony George also took first for the Knights in the 400-meter hurdles (56.79).
In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Senior Nicholas Hoffman placed second (17.72).
In the 5,000 meters, the Knights claimed both first and second places, with sophomore Brendan Wortner winning the race in an ECAC Championship-qualifying performance (15:12.24). Teammate first-year Adam Murphy finished in second behind Wortner, running a time of 15:46.64.
The men's 4 x 800 meter relay team consisting of first-years Mike Borini, Chris Odin, Travis Briggs, and Brian Windisch took first place with a time of 8:19.
Junior Phil Longo tied for first and qualified for the ECAC Championships in high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches.
The Knights will next compete at the Penn Relay Meet at Franklin Field in Philadephia, Penn.
