GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo track & field team hosted the SUNY G Open, Friday and Saturday.
First-year Joanna Heath equaled the best high jump in the nation this season with a leap of 5 feet, 7 3/4 inches (1.72m) in finishing second in the heptathlon.
Sophomore Ashton Hughes won the women's 5,000-meter run with an ECAC Championship-qualifying time of 18:23.06, while first-year Jacquelin Huben finished second (4:56.62) in the 1,500 meters. Junior Keira Wood placed third in the 400-meters, running a time of 59.75.
Junior Allison Hoh and first-year Bri Colello took second (16.34) and third (16.8), respectively in the 100-meter hurdles.
Junior Elyssa Slawinski had the day's best performance in the hammer throw (146-2, 44.56m).
On the men's side, first-year Connor Christian won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.01. Senior Tony George also took first for the Knights in the 400-meter hurdles (56.79).
In the 5,000 meters, sophomore Brendan Wortner finished first with an ECAC Championship-qualifying performance (15:12.24), while first-year teammate Adam Murphy finished in second (15:46.64).
In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Senior Nicholas Hoffman placed second (17.72).
In the field events, junior Phil Longo tied for first and qualified for the ECAC Championships in high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches (1.93m), while junior Devon Anderson had the best showing in the discus (131 feet, 11 inches, 40.21m).
The men's 4x800-meter relay team consisting of first-years Mike Borini, Chris Odin, Travis Briggs, and Brian Windisch took first place with a time of 8:19.
The Knights will next compete at the Penn Relay Meet at Franklin Field in Philadephia, Penn.
