ROCHESTER, N.Y./ITHACA, N.Y. – This weekend, the SUNY Geneseo Track and Field Teams competed in two meets. On Friday, some of the Knights competed at the Orange & Brown Invitational, hosted at RIT, while on Saturday, others traveled to Ithaca, to run in the Marc Deneault Invitational, hosted by Cornell.
Orange & Brown Invitational –
On the men's side, junior
Phil Longo qualified for the ECAC Championships by setting a new personal record to take first in the long jump (6.84 meters), while teammate first-year
David Pollock followed with a sixth place finish in the same event (6.48 meters). In the high jump, sophomore
Luke Taverne jumped 1.83 meters to claim fifth place.
In the 5000 meter-run, first-year
John Panus ran to a second place finish with a time of 15:42.43. First-year
Mike Borini took ninth in the mile (4:35.04) to round out the men's performances.
On the women's side, junior Allison Hoh led the Knights with an ECAC-qualifying performance and second place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (9.36), after tying her own school record in the preliminaries (9.33). First-year Joanna Heath also qualified for the ECAC Championships in the high jump after she took third place (1.60 meters) in the event and seventh in the long jump (5.11 meters).
The women's 4x200 meter relay team, consisting of juniors

Allison Hoh, first-year
Bri Colello, and senior
Samantha Hudson, ran a time of 1:48.72 to take third place and qualify for the ECAC Championships. The 4x400 meter team of first-year
Alexa Wandy, sophomore
Kylie Ryan, firsty-year
Sarevah Shafer, and sophomore
Brianna VanSoest took fifth place (4:24.04).
Marc Deneault Invitational –
Some of the squad competed at the Marc Denault Invitational at Cornell University on Saturday. Senior Tom Clark led the men with a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (8:29.01). Junior Cohen Miles-Rath grabbed fifth place in the same event (8:29.01).
In the mile, first-year Travis Briggs ran a time of 4:25.77 to take fifth. Junior Colby Burke rounded out the men's performances, taking eighth place in the 800 meter (1:59.23).
For the women, junior Keira Wood ran an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:15.64, landing a second place finish in the 800 meter.
The Knights will next compete at the SUNYAC Championships on March 1st in Brockport, N.Y.
