ITHACA, N.Y./MEDFORD, Mass. - The SUNY Geneseo track & field teams were in action at two meets on Saturday. A small contingient of Knights traveled to Tufts for the Cupid Invitational, while the rest of the squad went to Ithaca for the Bomber Invitationa.
CUPID INVITATIONAL
Two Knights swept the 5,000-meter events on Saturday as junior Cassie Goodman ran to first place in a 21-woman field (17:57.12), while junior Cohen Miles-Rath out-distanced the 40-runner field on the men's side (15:02.19)
Junior Keira Wood finished third out of 41 runners in the 800-meter run with a 2:18.72 clocking.
The men's distance medley relay team, coprised Miles-Rath, junior Colby Burke, senior Thomas Clark and junior Tony George finished 10th (10:13.35).
BOMBER INVITATIONAL
At the Bomber Invitational, sophomore Brendan Wortner won the 3,000-meter run, clocking in at 8:42.24. In the 5,000 meter, sophomore Liam Cody took second (15:56.25). First-year Travis Briggs also finished second in the mile, coming in at 4:26.13.
In the field events, junior Phil Longo took fifth in the long jump (6.79 meters) and eighth in the high jump (1.79 meters).
On the women's side, juniors Alyssa Knott and Joanna Castrogivanni grabbed third (10:40.42) and fourth place (10:40.82) finishes, respectively, in the 3,000 meters, while first-year Sara Rosenzweig finished fourth in the mile (5:22.84). Junior Allison Hoh also ran the day's fourth-fastest time in the 400 (59.96).
Senior Samantha Hudson ended up third in the long jump (4.87m) while first-year Joanna Heath earned a fourth place finish in the high jump (1.54 meters) to round out the Knights' performances.
The track and field teams will next be in action again at the Marc Deneault Invitational hosted by Cornell University on February 22nd.
