GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team battled back from an opening-set deficit to earn a five-set road win on Wednesday at RIT, improving to 2-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo trailed for much of the first set, cutting the gap to 19-22 late on a Kate Barba service ace, but RIT closed it out on a service-heavy run to take the opener 25-19.
- The Knights flipped the script in the second, using an 11-0 service and kill stretch capped by kills from Ellie McLennan and Sophie Hunter to build a double-digit cushion, closing out the set 25-20.
- Geneseo carried that momentum into the third, jumping ahead early behind Jessica Macken's setting and a string of kills from Cory Elder and Hunter, taking the set 25-21.
- The Tigers responded in the fourth, controlling play throughout to force a decisive fifth set with a 25-21 win.
- Geneseo took control early in the fifth and never let go, closing out the match with a 15-5 win to clinch it.
