GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team opened the Marcia French Invitational with a straight-set loss on Friday to Baldwin Wallace, falling 3-0 and dropping to 2-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The opening set stayed within reach into the low 20s, with Kate Barba and McKenna Callari trading aces down the stretch, but the hosts closed it down the stretch for a 26-24 win.
- Geneseo battled in the second, with Zooey Gagnier serving back-to-back aces to cut the gap to 13-13, before the hosts' block took over late to close out a 25-19 win.
- The third set slipped away early as the hosts built a comfortable cushion behind their front line, closing out the sweep 25-13.
