Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanks Allegheny, 3-0

Geneseo, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team hosted their home opener at College Stadium on Friday afternoon against the Allegheny College Gators. The Knights controlled the match from start to finish, cruising to a 3-0 win and improving to 1-0-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Kate Pinto opened the scoring in the 13th minute, poking home a rebound after Allegheny goalkeeper Addison Ayres turned away a flurry of Geneseo shots in the box, putting the Knights up 1-0.
  • Geneseo kept pouring on the pressure, out-shooting the Gators 21-3 in the first half alone. The lead grew to 2-0 in the 55th minute when Riley Griffin buried a penalty kick.
  • Ashley Pawelczyk capped the scoring in the 66th minute, finishing off an assist from Maggie Zito to make it 3-0. Emily McLouth and the Geneseo defense did the rest, holding Allegheny to just six shots on the night to secure the shutout.

  • Ella Yartym led all players with 11 shots and four shots on goal.
