Brockport, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team traveled to Brockport this afternoon and battled to a scoreless deadlock into the final minutes, but a late goal proved the difference as the Knights dropped a 1-0 decision, falling to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in Empire 8 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Brockport broke the scoreless tie in the 87th minute, snapping a deadlock that had held for nearly the entire match and sending the Knights to their second straight loss.
- Geneseo controlled long stretches of play throughout the afternoon, out-shooting Brockport 10-9 on the day and holding a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Charlie Sorensen led the way with two shots on goal, forcing a save in the first half, while Ali Shabani tested the goalkeeper three times after the break.
- The Knights pushed for an equalizer in the closing minutes, getting shots from Eric Carnes and Owen Burke, and Sorensen nearly leveled the match with a header on frame in stoppage time, but Geneseo couldn't find the net.
