Yartym Leads Knights To 2-1 Victory Over Alfred State

ALFRED, NY: The Geneseo Women's soccer team defeated the Alfred State Pioneers on the road with a score of 2-1. The Knights move to 2-1-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Alfred took a 1-0 lead late in the first half. The Knights worked to even the score but could not find the back of the net before halftime.
  • Geneseo came out had and fast in the second half, tying the game 1-1 in the 47th minute. Ella Yartym got the final touch after the ball bounced around in the box off the corner kick.
  • In the 83rd minute, Lauren DeMura made a great play and stole the ball from an Alfred defender. DeMura sent the ball to the middle of the box, connecting with Yartym, who sailed it over the goalie's head for the game-winner. The Knights took home the victory 2-1.

  • Ella Yartym scored both goals for the knights and now sits at three this season.
  • The Knights outshot the Pioneers 9-1.
