Men's Soccer Opens Season with 3-1 Win Over Fredonia

GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team kicked off their season with a 3-1 win over Fredonia. The Knights start the year with a 1-0-0 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights struck first in the seventh minute thanks to a header by Francesco Visone. Visone found it in the air after the initial touch from Charlie Sorensen bounced around in the box, and knocked it bottom left for the goal.
  • Geneseo ended the half with a 2-0 lead after an own-goal from Fredonia. Alex Grejda saw a wide-open Aidan Lodie at the top of the field but a bad touch by the Fredonia defender sent the ball bouncing over their keepers head and into the net.
  • Owen Burke opened the second half with an Olimpico in the 57th minute, sailing it across the goal line and into the bottom corner of the net off.
  • The Blue Devils got on the board with 27 minutes left to play from a penalty kick goal but were unable to rally, and the Knights secured the 3-1 win.
