Women's Lacrosse Comes Up Short Against Union

GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team fell in a close battle against Union College 14-12. The Knights move to 8-7 overall and stay at 6-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights took a commanding 6-1 lead in the first quarter, with Lila Warner and Rosemary Mahoney each tallying two goals each.
  • Union closed the gap early in the second, scoring three straight goals to make it 7-4, but Geneseo kicked it into gear. Katie Rajkowski found the back of the net at 6:06, followed by one less than a minute later from Emma McGuigan to extend the lead. Hannah Ruller and Natalie Long added two more, bringing the score to 11-6 at halftime.
  • Union went on to mount a comeback in the second half, scoring three unanswered goals in the third, followed by another six in the fourth. Rajkowski was the only Knight to score in the second half and ultimately falling 14-12 against Union.
