GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with a 23-1 win over SUNY Poly.
Alaina Reina competed in her last game in the Knights uniform, tallying her 200
th career point. Geneseo moves to 8-6 overall and have a conference record of 6-1. In addition to Reina, the Knights honored
Cate Doxsee,
Dany Emler, and
Lucia Sanchez in a brief post-game ceremony.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights went on an 8-0 run in the first, with Cate Doxsee tallying a hat trick in the first eight minutes of the game, along with Dany Emler (2), Natalie Long, Danielle D'Aiuto and Hannah Ruller also adding to the total.
- Emler recorded a hat trick of her own in the second while Alaina Reina recorded her 200th career point as a Knight, sitting at No. 9 in the record book for career points.
- SUNY Poly tallied a goal to open the third, but Geneseo continued to push, adding four more in the third with goals from Gabby Connors, Ava Mone, Olivia Luchetti and Grace Geary.
- They continued the momentum into the final quarter with another five goals finding the back of the net, including a man-up from Briea Schlindwein, and the Knights take home the 23-1 victory over the Wildcats.
QUICK FACTS:
- Cate Doxsee had a career high eight points, scoring six goals and two assists against Poly.
- Katie Rajkowski picked up eight draw controls to lead the team, followed by Emler and Violet Piccinini with four a piece.
- The Knights saw a season high of 20 assists, led by Rajkowski with three.
- Reina's 200 career points puts her at ninth all-time in program history.
