Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo flag football team picked up its sixth-straight win on Friday afternoon, defeating Sage 48-0. The Knights improve to 9-3 with the win and 4-1 in Empire 8 action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo started the game with the ball and sophomore quarterback Ella Koopman marched the Knights down the field for a touchdown. The opening drive was capped off by a 15-yard touchdown pass to Corina Dunn.
- The defense backed up the game-opening touchdown with a goal-line stand on the Gators ensuing drive, stopping them at the three-yard line. Koopman went on to make it 14-0, scrambling for a 20-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. The Knights would go on to extend their lead to 28-0 before half, with Koopman throwing two more touchdown passes to Dunn.
- Geneseo continued to put the pressure on Sage, with the defense holding strong coming out of halftime. The Knights offense kept the momentum going with a touchdown pass to Kenna MacKenzie, then a fourth quarter touchdown from Megan Howard capped off the offensive production for the day.
- Emily McLouth provided the highlight of the day for the defense, securing a pick-six in the closing minutes to cap off the 48-0 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
- Koopman threw for 228 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 105 and another. Dunn led the receiving group with six catches, 79 yards, and three touchdowns.
- McLouth led the defensive effort with eight flag pulls and the pick six, while Alivia Horton added an interception as well.
- The Knights currently sit atop the Empire 8 standings with a 4-1 record in the conference.
