CLERMONT, FL: SUNY Geneseo Softball closed out their Florida trip with a pair of games today. They were able to capture two victories beating William Paterson 6-5 in eight innings from a walk off by
Jane Reilly scoring
Sierra VanDerwarker. In the second game, the Knights defeated Buffalo State 6-4 to bring their season record to 6-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Geneseo fell behind 3-0 early against William Paterson, but in the third inning, Ray Schumacher drew a walk with the bases loaded to score Jane Reilly. Lauren Babich followed that up with a double to right field scoring Lauren Bienek and Schumacher to tie the game at 3-3.
- The Knights trailed 4-3 as they entered the bottom of the sixth, however Jane Reilly would tie the game back up with a double down the left field line to score Babich. But William Patterson would retake a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning. With the Knights down to their final out, Molly Griffin tied the game with a single up the middle to score Gabriella Smith.
- Nevaeh Ross shutdown William Patterson in the top of the eighth to keep the game tied and give the Knights a chance to win. Jane Reilly would then reach on an error to score Sierra VanDerwarker to give the Knights the 6-5 victory.
- In the second game against Buffalo State, the Knights would strike early in the second inning with a homerun over the left field fence by Lauren Bieniek. Bella Nadzan then reached on a fielder's choice to score Emily Sylvanus. Brooke Fraas and Claire Kubiak would follow that up with a pair of run scoring singles to left field to give the Knights a 5-0 lead.
- In the top of the fifth inning, Katie Kuneth would drive in a run with a single to left field scoring Sierra VanDerwarker to give the Knights a Commanding 6-1 lead.
- Geneseo's Gabriella Petroski would be able to hold off a comeback from Buffalo State to give the Knights a 6-4 victory and close out their Florida trip with a 6-3 record.

- Lauren Bieniek crushed her first homerun of the season over the left field fence. Emily Sylvanus, Lauren Babich, and Jane Reilly all had multi-hit games today.
- Nevaeh Ross pitched a total of nine innings across the two games today allowing three total runs and five strikeouts and getting the win in the game against Buffalo State.Â

The Knights will travel to Fredonia to play a pair of games against the Blue Devils on Wednesday, March 25 starting at 3pm.
