CLERMONT, F.L. - SUNY Geneseo softball continued its Florida trip with a trio of games this morning and afternoon. The Knights took down No.12 Simpson 7-6 on a walk-off sacrifice fly from Gabriella Petroski to open the day. Following the win, the Knights would fall to Springfield College 7-6 in eight innings, and then Wisconsin La-Crosse, 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights took a 3-2 lead against Simpson in the third after a three-run double from Ray Schumacher, scoring Emily Sylvanus, Brooke Fraas, and Alyssa Siegmann. Molly Griffin would follow that up with a double of her own to score Schumacher and give the Knights a 4-2 lead.
- Gabriella Petroski shutdown Simpson after allowing two runs in the first five innings, however, Simpson was able to break through in the top of the sixth to score two runs and tie the game at 4-4. Simpson then tacked on two more in the top of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead.
- Down to their final three outs, Molly Griffin stepped up for the Knights and would hit her second double of the game to score two runs to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. Gabriella Petroski would follow that up with a sacrifice fly to score Claire Kubiak, giving the Knights the 7-6 walk-off victory.
- In the second game, Geneseo would score first with an inside the park lead-off home run from Brooke Fraas. However, Springfield would score two of their own in the bottom of the first.Â
- A home run over the left field fence from Lauren Babich would tie the game in the top of the second. The Knights would score two runs in the third inning with Brooke Fraas scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Molly Griffin. The Knights would enter the bottom of the sixth inning with a 5-2 lead.
- Springfield would score a run in the sixth and two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
- The Knights would score a run in the eighth inning on a fielding error by Springfield. However, that lead would not last after a two run walk-off single by Springfield's Amelia DeRosa.
- In the third game, Brooke Fraas led the game off with a single, but the Knights couldn't get much going on offense. Mikayla Bucci was lights out on the mound, not allowing a run until the seventh inning where University of Wisconsin-La Crosse scored three runs to earn the 3-0 win.
QUICK FACTS:
- Brooke Fraas led the offense today with eight hits including going 4-4 in the final game. Molly Griffin had as great day with five hits and 4 RBI's, while Ray Schumacher tallied four hits and three RBI's on the day.
- Nevaeh Ross and Gabriella Petroski both pitched complete games today both allowing 5 earned runs, with Petroski earning the win over Simpson.
- Mikayla Bucci had a complete game allowing three earned runs and five strikeouts while starting the game with 6 scoreless innings.

The Knights will play a pair of games tomorrow as they continue their Florida trip against University of Wisconsin-Stout and Plymouth State University. The games are at 1:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
