Women's Lacrosse Posts Nine Straight Goals in 15-5 Win Over Hartwick

ONEONTA, NY: The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team had a huge victory over the Hartwick Hawks to start Spring break, winning 15-5 and moving to 3-3 this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights set the tone early in the game, scoring two goals in the opening minutes. Natalie Long scored first with the assist from Hannah Ruller, followed by Katie Rajkowski, unassisted. Hartwick added two of their own, but the Geneseo tallied two more before the end of the first, coming from Ruller and Grace Reyna to make it 4-2.
  • The second quarter just as close, with only a one goal lead for the Knights heading into halftime. Rajkowski found the back of the net at 10:18, with the assist coming from Rosemary Mahoney. Mahoney went on to give the Knights the lead with a minute left in the half, scoring unassisted.
  • Geneseo turned up the heat in the second half, scoring nine straight goals against the Hawks. Mahoney broke open the flood gates at 11:26, followed by Ruller and Danielle D'Aiuto scoring two more for the Knights in the third quarter.
  • Rajkowski completed her hattrick early in the fourth quarter, getting a ball in front of the net from Reyna to make it 10-5. Olivia Luchetti (2), Cara Calicchia, Shannon Day and Dany Emler each added goals of their own for a final 15-5 win against Hartwick.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Five Knights came away with three points against the Hawks, with Katie Rajkowski being the only one scoring three goals.
  • Geneseo had a season high of 19 caused turnovers against Hartwick.
  • Rosemary Mahoney added two goals and assist this afternoon and now leads the team with 16 points.

Geneseo heads to Clearwater, Florida to compete against Stevens on Wednesday, March 18th.
