Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Maritime 14-11

THROGGS NECK, NY: The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team battled it out against the Maritime Privateers, winning 14-11 to start their spring break trip. The Knights are now 2-3 this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Maritime took a 2-0 lead early in the first before the Knights were able to get on the board. Luca Shettino and Ronnie Trebing scored back-to-back goals at 4:01 and 3:49, followed by Askel who added another with 2:33 left to play but the Privateers added two more of their own to end the first leading 4-3.
  • The teams traded goals the second quarter, but Geneseo was able to secure the lead before halftime. Jake Perinchief completed a hattrick with three goals in 13 minutes, with assists coming from Ian Leahey and Stanat. Ronnie Trebing and Leahey each added a goal of their own and headed into the half with an 8-7 lead.
  • The Knights took control in the third quarter, putting up five more goals while holding Maritime to only two. Leahey, Nick Stockwell and Jacob Pensabene all tallied goals while Ronnie Trebing added two more of his own.
  • Maritime attempted to rally in the fourth, scoring two goals, but Stanat sealed the game with a final goal at 4:05 and the Knights take the win over the Privateers 14-11.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Ryan and Robbie Trebing led the team with four points each; Ronnie with four goals and Ryan with four assists.
  • Bed Bradsaw secured the win in net, making 14 saves.
  • The Knights went 24-28 on faceoffs, with Jake Starkey winning 13-14.
