Women's Basketball Cruises Past St. John Fisher, 64-34

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team traveled to St. John Fisher on Friday evening, and came away with a convincing 64-34 victory. The Knights improve to 15-6 overall and 9-3 in Empire 8 action with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Sofia Vasselman opened up the scoring with a layup on the Knights opening possession, then Geneseo's only deficit of the game came on the following trip down the court as the Cardinals hit a three. Audrey Hintz quickly put the Knights back on top, then three's down the stretch by Maggie McGrane and Grace Galgano helped extend the lead to 17-8 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Geneseo opened the second quarter on a 9-0 scoring run, powered by five points from Kristin Suydam. The Knights went on to cap off an impressive defensive first half by limiting St. John Fisher to just five in the second quarter, for a 31-13 advantage at halftime.
  • The Knights came out of halftime on another big run, this time opening the quarter with an 11-0 advantage. After holding the Cardinals to just four points in the third quarter, Geneseo was able to easily close out the 64-34 victory.
