Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 8 RPI

GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team fell to the No. 8 RPI Engineers in the home-opener 18-13. The Knights enter the season with a 0-1 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • RPI went on a four-goal run before Ronnie Trebing scored the knight first goal at 7:42, unassisted. Cole Parker, Asket Stanat and Jake Perinchief also tallied goals for Geneseo in the first, cutting RPI's lead to 7-4 entering the second period.
  •  Trebing tallied his second goal of the game 30 second into the second but the Knights were unable to keep up the momentum, allowing the Engineer's to score five more goals before halftime.
  • Ian Leahey, Stanat and Perinchief all added a goal in the second, followed by two more by Trebing to bring the score to 15-10. RPI answered back with two more before the end of the period, making it 17-10 entering the final quarter.
  • Trebing nailed two more goals in the fourth, as well as one from Nick Stockwell but Geneseo was unable to rally, falling to the Engineers 18-13.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Ronnie Trebing opened the season with six goals and one assist, for a career high in both single-game goals and points.
  • The Knights put 27 shots on net against RPI.
  • Geneseo had 12 caused turnover, with Nick Nicastro leading the team with three.
