Women's Basketball Defeats Utica, 82-30

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team faced off against the Utica Pioneers on Friday night, cruising to a dominant 82-30 victory. This win improves the Knights' record to 16-7 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights opened the first quarter with authority, scoring 16 straight points before the Pioneers were able to get on the board. They found early success from beyond the arc, as Kristin Suydam and Sofia Vasselman each knocked down a three-pointer, while Grace Galgano added two of her own. Geneseo continued to dictate the pace, taking a commanding 28-3 lead into the second quarter.
  • Geneseo maintained its dominant play in the second quarter, outscoring Utica 20-7. The Knights were efficient from the floor, shooting 8-for-12 in the frame. Although the Pioneers managed to add a few points, Geneseo carried a 48-10 lead into halftime.
  • The Knights extended their lead in the third quarter, as Vasselman opened the frame with a deep three-pointer off an assist from Maggie McGrane. The Pioneers struggled to keep pace with Geneseo's offensive production, and the Knights carried a 69-22 advantage into the fourth quarter.
  • The Knights added 13 more points to their lead in the fourth quarter to secure a 82-30 win over Utica.
