PITTSBURGH, P.A. -Â The SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team completed the weekend sweet against the Chatham Cougars, winning 4-2. The Knights move to 13-6-1 and 9-3-0 in conference play while the Cougars fall to 15-4-0 and 6-4-0 in the UCHC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights took a 1-0 lead against the Cougars halfway through the first period. Payne Gatewood found Alex Dameski with an incredible pass through traffic on the far post and Dameski tallied an easy goal for Geneseo. Chatham answered back with a goal of their own, sending the knights into the second tied 1-1.
- Carter Diceman found the back of the net for a power-play goal, picking up the rebound from Sean Melso's shot; Filip Wiberg with the second assist.
- Dameski netted another power-play goal for the Knights, going 1-v-1 against Chatham's goalie, extending the Knights lead to 3-1heading into the third period. Melso and Luke Panchisin credited with the assists.
- Chatham added a goal in the third to cut the Knights lead to one. Carter Diceman sealed the game with an empty-net goal, leading the Knights to a 4-2 victory over Chatham.
QUICK FACTS:
- Alex Dameski and Carter Diceman each scored two goals for the Knights totaling 16 and 10 this season, respectively.
- Jacob Torgner made 30 saves between the pipes for a .938 SV%.
- Geneseo had two power play goals against Catham, leading the UCHC and third overall in the NCAA with 23 for a .299 PP%.
