Hockey Falls 4-3 in OT to Tufts

TAMPA, FL: The No.9 SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team lost to the Tufts Jumbos 4-3 in overtime this in their final game at the Tampa College Hockey invitational. The Knights move to 9-4-1 overall and head into conference play with a 5-1-0 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights were unable to get on the board in the first period. Jack McDonald opened the game with the teams first goal at 17:20 in the second, with assists from Ryan Forberg and Nicholas Kovacs.
  • Sterling Wolters tallied another four minutes later, taking a shot from the middle of the zone and finding the back of the net through traffic, with assists from Cameron Ricotta and MacDonald. 
  • Alex Dameski netted Geneseo's third goal of the evening with seven minutes left in the second. Greg Diamond and Demitri Diflorio are credited with the assists.
  • Tufts ended the period with a goal of their own. They continued their momentum in the third period, scoring two more to force overtime, defeating the knights with the final goal a minute into the period. The Knights fall to 9-4-1.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Jacob Torgner made 39 saves in net, setting a new career high for the junior. 
  • Alex Dameski tallied his 10th goal of the season, scoring in six consecutive games.
  • Jack McDonald led the game with a goal and assist and now sits at two goals and four assists this year.
