Torgner Posts Second Shutout as Men's Hockey Beat Manhattanville 7-0

GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team triumphed over the Manhattanville Valiants 7-0, with goalie Jacob Torgner making 32 saves to secure the shutout win. The Knights move to 10-5-1 overall and 6-2-0 in the UCHC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights came out hot with a goal from Carter Diceman just 24 seconds into the period. Jack McDonald picked up the puck in the corner, finding an open Danny Bagnole for a one-timer at 7:47, sending Geneseo in to the second period leading 2-0.
  • Alex Dameski tallied his first goal of the night at 12:24 in the second. Colin Doherty picked up a save made by Jacob Torgner and connected with Dameski for the Knights only goal in the second period.
  • Dameski opened the third with another goal one minute in, tapping one from the slot off a pass Greg Diamond. The Knights capitalized on a 3-on-2 breakaway to make it 5-0 with the goal from Sterling Wolters, ripping it from the dot- Dameski on the assist.
  • Geneseo took advantage of the powerplay, scoring twice in the final two minutes of the game. McDonald lit the lamp at 1:26, followed by Diceman with 31 seconds left to play, with assists coming from Dakota Zarudny, Sean Melso, Dameski and Wolters. The Knights take down the Valiants 7-0 and now lead the UCHC with a 6-2-0 record.
