UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team remained unbeaten in Empire 8 action on Friday evening, defeating SUNY Poly 65-44. The win improves the Knights to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Knights were dominant early, jumping ahead 11-2 in the first four and a half minutes of action. The early offensive run was led by four points from both Grace Galgano and Eva Elliot, with Galgano capping off the impressive first quarter with a layup to make it 20-11 going into the second.
• Geneseo kept the pressure on in the second quarter, as baskets from Elizabeth Craft and Reily Roberts down the stretch of the second quarter allowed the Knights to hold a 20 point lead going to halftime.
• The Wildcats were able to battle back in the third quarter, cutting the deficit down to 11. However, the Knights stepped up their defensive intensity for the final 10 minutes, only allowing two points scored by the home team en route to the 65-44 victory.

QUICK FACTS:

• Galgano led the team with 15 points, while Kristin Suydam chipped in 11.
• Elliot led the rebounding effort with nine, while Maggie McGrane dished out six assists.
• Geneseo dominated the paint, out-scoring SUNY Poly 38-14.
