ELMIRA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Field Hockey team faced off against Elmira this afternoon, and secured a 9-1 victory behind a hat trick from
Ella Greico. The Knights now hold a 7-1 record on the season overall and 2-0 in Empire 8 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ella Greico sparked a strong start for Geneseo, scoring the Knights' first goal at 4:54 off an assist from Ava Harman. Harman quickly followed with a goal of her own less than a minute later, giving the Knights an early 2-0 lead in the opening quarter. Christianna Clark added her second collegiate goal, unassisted, at 8:19. Halle Senfield picked up the last goal of the quarter at 11:55.
- In the second quarter, Maya Costanza notched her first collegiate goal at 22:30, before Elmira was able to get on the board with a minute and a half remaining. Going into halftime, the Knights led the Soaring Eagles, 5-1.
- In the third quarter, Greico scored her second goal and the team's sixth at 30:50.
- Geneseo tacked on a few more to their lead in the fourth quarter. Greico recorded her third goal to complete a hat trick, and Clark followed with her second goal of the game. Molly Videla capped the scoring with a goal in the final minute, as the Knights closed out a 9-1 victory.
