GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team competed against RIT this evening for their first home game of the season, and cruised to a 3-0 victory. With the win, the Knights improve to 7-7 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo took command early in the opening set, quickly building a five-point lead. The Knights didn't let up, earning a 25-17 win over the Tigers.
- Geneseo continued their offensive momentum into the second set, although RIT managed to even the score at seven. From there, the Knights stepped on the gas, pulling ahead to claim a 25-18 win. Kate Barba contributed four kills, with Ayla Pas'cal added three.
- The Knights' offense stayed strong in the third set, never allowing RIT to close the gap. Geneseo wrapped up the sweep with a 25-16 win. Pas'cal and Zooey Gagnier each recorded three service aces to help seal the match.
QUICK FACTS:
- Gagnier led the defensive effort with 18 digs.
- Pas'cal finished the match with a team-high 13.5 points.
- The Knights posted a collective hitting percentage of .277, while Gianna Lucchi and Carolyn Mack chipped in 16 and 10 assists, respectively.
