ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Women's Volleyball team faced off against Nazareth this evening for their first conference game of the season, and earned a 3-0 win. The Knights now hold a 8-7 overall record, and are 1-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo struck first in the opening set with back-to-back service aces from Kathryn Barba. From there, the Knights sustained their intensity to secure a 25-15 victory over the Golden Flyers. Zooey Gagnier added a pair of service aces, while Ayla Pas'cal contributed three kills.
- The second set proved to be a much tighter battle, with Nazareth grabbing an early lead. Geneseo managed to battle back, tying the game at 19. The Knights then scored five consecutive points, and ultimately closed out the set with a 25-21 win.
- In the third set, Geneseo maintained the lead from start to finish. Nazareth was unable to catch up, and the Knights earned a 25-14 win. Pas'cal recorded three service aces, while McKenna Callari chipped in with two.
QUICK FACTS:
- Gagnier set the tone of defense with a team-high 12 digs.
- Barba and Pas'cal each finished the match with seven kills.
- Gianna Lucchi tallied a team-high 13 assists.
