UTICA, NY: The Geneseo Field Hockey team shutout the Utica Pioneers 9-0 in the first Empire 8 Conference matchup. This makes the team's sixth win, putting them at 6-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Aubree Wenner opened the game with the Knights first goal at 6:03 in the first. Teammates Kyra Giannelli, Emma Landers and Ella Greico added three more, with assists from Ava Harman and Greico (2).  

• In the second quarter, Meredith Guertin tallied her first goal of the season and the team's fifth at 5:01.  

• Wenner and Guertin each tallied their second goal of the game in the third quarter, followed by Christianna Clark, who scored her first collegiate goal. Halle Senfield, Harman and Giannelli each had an assist.  

• The Knights ended the game with a 9-0 win, with Senfield notching the team's final goal with five minutes remaining, assisted by Ella Axelson.  

QUICK FACTS: 

• Seven Knights tallied goals against the Pioneers. Aubree Wenner and Meredith Guertin led with two each.  

• Bridget Schafer grabbed her fourth shutout of the season.  

• This win marks the teams 7th straight win against the Pioneers, second since joining the Empire 8.
